We made great progress in 2016 in our effort to develop the ClearView Fiduciary Alliance as a resource to “help foundation, endowment and not-for-profit Boards and Executives make more informed investment decisions.” We are pleased to provide you with this brief update of our progress and to share some of the upcoming activities we have planned for the first quarter of 2017.

  • Exited the “Beta” Phase of Development – During the 4th quarter of 2016, we exited our beta development phase and are pleased to report that 70% of our beta participants have enrolled as ongoing Members of the Alliance. We are grateful to our beta participants for their interest and support during this development phase.
  • Quarterly Conference Call – On November 22nd, we conducted our first ClearView Quarterly Conference Call for Members and their Advisers and were pleased to have more than 30 participants in this call. This will be a standard service of the Alliance and will typically take place about a week after we release our final quarterly peer analysis results. Our Q4 2016 Quarterly Conference Call will take place on February 21st at 9:30 am.
  • Summary Peer Analysis Report – We introduced this new summary peer analysis report in the 4th quarter to provide our Members and the Advisers with a one-page summary snapshot of their peer comparisons across the ClearView and MSCI InvestorForce universes.
  • ClearView “Insights” Series – In December we published the second report in our ClearView “Insights” series. The purpose of these reports is to provide ongoing education and context for the Board members and Executives of our member organizations. To date, we have published two reports in this series:
    • Investing with an “Infinite Future”
    • Investment Peer Analysis –  A Definitive “Best Practice”
  • Adviser Qualitative Assessment Tool (QAT) – Later this month, we will introduce an online tool to assist the Executives, Boards and Investment Committees of foundations, endowments and not-for-profit organizations with the objective periodic assessment of the qualitative aspects of their overall investment program and their Financial Adviser/Consultant relationships. As a service to our members, we will administer the confidential QAT and provide a summary report for use in this important component of their fiduciary investment oversight.
  • Annual Investment Policy Study – We have begun the process of conducting the Annual Investment Policy Review Study and will be requesting copies of Member Investment Policy Statements this week. Our target for completion of this study will be the end of February and will plan to review the results with members in early March at our Second Annual Members Meeting.
  • Annual Members Meeting – We are making plans for the Second Annual ClearView Fiduciary Alliance Members Meeting in early March. This meeting will be held in the Raleigh area and will be available to the Board Members and Executives of our Member organizations. The agenda for the meeting will include an update on our development of the Alliance, Fiduciary Educational Topics and a review of the results of our Annual Investment Policy Review Study.

About ClearView – The ClearView Fiduciary Alliance is a membership-based service of ClearView by KDI, LLC. ClearView’s mission is “to help foundation, endowment and not-for-profit Boards and Executives make better investment decisions” by being more informed and better educated. ClearView is not an investment adviser and it does not provide investment management services. It is a resource for Executives and Board members who are focused on being better investment fiduciaries. Its core offering is a robust, web-based system that provides its Members with independent, objective and confidential quarterly peer investment performance and portfolio allocation analysis specifically targeted to small and mid-size foundations, endowments and not-for-profit organizations.  With a base of more than 35 regional Members (representing more than $1.1 billion) and a database of nearly 800 similar portfolios from across the country, ClearView is uniquely positioned to help Boards and Investment Committees understand and analyze their investment programs and the results of their investment advisers and consultants.
